Preliminary findings on Winter Storm Gerri, that struck the western part of PJM’s grid through to the East Coast this January, confirm GO15 member PJM’s resilient response, with robust generator and transmission performance, accurate load forecasting, and effective coordination with other regions.
At the depth of the cold weather on January 17th at 8:10am, PJM served a peak load of 134,777 MW.
Lessons learned from previous storms, particularly Winter Storm Elliott last December, contributed to a more proactive and resilient approach, minimizing disruptions and optimizing market conditions. Further details will be discussed in upcoming committee meetings.
