World’s largest onshore wind turbine powers up for first time in China

Chinese wind power company Sany Group has reportedly placed in service the world’s largest onshore wind turbine in Tongyu, Jilin Province, in China. The turbine, which has a design life of 25 to 30 years and boasts a 131-meters blade, can generate up to 15MW of wind power.

Sany indicates the turbine includes new breakthrough technologies such as self-designed fiberglass pre-quilting technology, or long-distance automatic infusion technology for large and composite blades.
