The IEA has released a report on the needs for better integration measures for solar and wind across the globe, as solar photovoltaics (PV) and wind power have been growing at an accelerated pace, more than doubling in installed capacity and nearly doubling their share of global electricity generation from 2018 to 2023.
The report calls for:
- Strategic government action to enhance infrastructure
- Regulatory reforms to ensure the successful large-scale integration of solar PV and wind in order to meet global energy transition targets
According to the agency, “robust data, stakeholder collaboration and government prioritisation of integration measures are essential for achieving a sustainable energy future”, as most technological solutions to address emerging hurdles are either mature or nearing maturity.
