Britain’s new electrical and gas networks operator, National Energy System Operator (NESO), has been officially launched on October 1st. Established after the UK’s 2023 Energy Act, its goal is to accelerate Great Britain’s energy transition.
NESO is built on the previous experience of National Grid ESO and its extensive expertise in balancing electricity supply and demand 24/7, whilst making sure the networks and the markets are prepared for the future.
For Fintan Slye, its CEO, the creation of NESO with whole energy responsibilities “can bring together various targets, such as ensuring safe and affordable energy supplies to people, communities and business around the country, as well as ensuring the transition to clean energy.“
