Balkan countries hit by an important power outage amid heatwave

A major grid incident has struck the Southeastern part of Continental Europe on June 21st around noon (local time), in the context of a major heatwave on the region. As a consequence of this event, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro have suffered a black-out of their electricity grid for several hours. A similar partial blackout also occurred in parts of Croatia.

In accordance with the Incident Classification Scale methodology, the Systems Operations Committee of ENTSO-E will perform a detailed investigation of this event in the coming weeks.
