China is set to surpass coal with solar and wind power, reaching 40% of installed capacity by the end of 2024, according to the China Electricity Council (CEC).
With a projected 1,300 GW of wind and solar capacity by year-end, exceeding the 2030 target, China aims for a significant shift towards renewables. The CEC emphasizes the need for time-of-use pricing and urges the government to incentivize energy storage technologies for efficient renewable energy integration.
