Nigeria has experienced a massive nationwide power outage for about 10 hours on Thursday September 14th, after the collapse of the country’s electrical grid.
According to Nigerian authorities and The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), which supplies electricity to southeastern Nigeria, this incident was caused by a fire. Power was restored to most of the country after 10 hours, impacting dozens of millions of citizens and businesses.
Nigeria generates a daily average of 4,000MW of electricity, much below the 30,000MW needed for its population of 210 million inhabitants.
