A report from the European Commission on EU research and innovation in the field of smart grids has recognized the pivotal role played by several European power-grid operators on exploring new ideas and projects for the sector. According to this report, French operator RTE, Italian operator TERNA and Belgian operator ELIA are top players in the enterprise aiming at “modernizing the electricity grid and better integrating the behaviors and actions of all connected users”.
These actions from top European power-grid operators confirm GO15 members are deeply engaged in finding new solutions for rising issues in the electricity markets. The “Smart Grids and Beyond – An EU research and innovation perspective” also showcases the importance of collaboration between public European or national actors in tackling challenges in the power grids sector.
